BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The WKU women's basketball team will take to the road for a pair of Conference USA matchups this week. First up, the Lady Toppers will face Louisiana Tech on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
WKU is 14-6 on the season and 6-3 in C-USA play. Louisiana Tech is 10-10 on the year and 2-7 in conference. The Lady Toppers are on a four-game winning streak and have won six of their last seven.
Most recently, WKU defeated FIU, 71-51, to improve to 8-0 at home and extend its home win streak to 10 games. After staying close early, the Lady Toppers pulled away from the Panthers in the second quarter.
Raneem Elgedawy had recorded three-straight double-doubles, including two last week. She was named C-USA Player of the Week after putting up 28 points and 18 rebounds against Florida Atlantic and then 21 points and 14 rebounds versus FIU.
Dee Givens also put up big numbers for WKU last week, scoring 25 points against Florida Atlantic and 19 against FIU.
In the midst of the Lady Toppers' four-game winning streak, they have outrebounded every opponent improving to 12-0 when outdoing the other team on the boards. Overall, WKU has outrebounded its last four opponents combined 170-111, an average of margin of 14.75.
Thursday will be the 47th meeting all-time between WKU and Louisiana Tech. The Lady Techsters lead the series 26-20, but the Lady Toppers have won seven-straight in the series.
Louisiana Tech is led in scoring by Keiunna Walker who is averaging 12.4 points per game. Amber Dixon is scoring 11.4 points per game as the team's second leading scorer. Anna Larr Roberson leads the Lady Techsters on the boards, averaging 5.3 rebounds per game.
