BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Lady Topper Tennis is set to host SIUE for the WKU Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the WKU Tennis Complex.
Coming off a 14-7 performance at the Air Force Invitational, the squad is looking to improve on their fall tournament record. Newcomer Moka Ito will go into this weekend with a 2-1 mark after advancing to the championship round of her flight in her first collegiate tournament.
Graduate student Elpida Malamou is returning from play at the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships where she fell against two top-ranked ITA opponents. The Greece native finished 2-1 in singles at the Air Force Invite while going 2-1 in doubles with sophomore partner Natalia De Ugarte.
Also in action for the Red and White will be senior Violetta Shatalova and sophomores Monica Malinen and Cindy Oest. Both Shatalova and Malinen finished with a 2-1 record in singles at the Air Force Invitational while Malinen teamed up with Ito to earn a 2-1 doubles mark.
Play will begin on The Hill at 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon with a singles match followed by a round of doubles. Competition will resume on Saturday at 9 a.m. with two rounds of singles before concluding weekend action with two sets of doubles.
