BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Women's Tennis had two players named to the College Sports Communicators 2025-26 Academic All-District Women's Tennis Team, the organization announced Tuesday.
Elizabeth Sobieski and Ariadna Fernandez represented WKU on the Academic All-District Team. It was the first time either had been named to CSC's Academic All-District Team since joining the Lady Toppers.
"Very happy to see Ari and Elizabeth being chosen to the Academic All-District Team," WKU Women's Tennis Head Coach Greg Davis said. "They are very deserving of this honor."
The CSC Academic All-District Women's Tennis Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. In order to be named to the CSC Academic All-District Team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and must have competed in at least 75% of an institution's days of competition, among other requirements.
Sobieski recently graduated with a degree in Biochemistry. She had a 4.00 GPA, was a member of the WKU President's List, was on the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and received the CUSA Commissioner's Academic Medal. Sobieski claimed 11 victories this spring combined in singles and doubles – five singles and six doubles – including winning both her singles and doubles matches in the CUSA Women's Tennis Championship.
Fernandez, a Sport Management major, posted a 3.92 GPA, and she was also recognized on the WKU President's List, the CUSA Commissioner's Honor Roll and with the CUSA Commissioner's Academic Medal. Fernandez went 11-6 in singles this season – including a victory in the CUSA Women's Tennis Championship – and added four wins in doubles.
The Lady Toppers finished the 2026 season with an 11-14 record, marking the fifth straight season the program has reached double-digit wins. It is the second time in program history WKU Women's Tennis has accomplished that, also doing so between the 2009-13 seasons. The Lady Toppers have won 73 matches over the last five seasons, which is the highest win total over a five-year period in program history.
