Kenny Perry Invitational Live Scoring
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The WKU men's golf team stays home this week to host the annual Kenny Perry Invitational.
The Hilltoppers welcome 11 other teams to The Club at Olde Stone for the par-72, 7,219-yard event at their home course.
The other teams participating are Belmont, Cleveland State, Eastern Kentucky, Florida Gulf Coast, Fort Wayne, Jacksonville State, Kentucky, Mercer, Southern Miss, Samford, and Tennessee Tech.
"It's just an honor to be able to have it out here at Olde Stone," WKU head coach Phillip Hatchett said. "We're looking forward to bringing teams in and showing off Olde Stone. We've got some good teams coming in from all over. … It's going to be a lot of fun, and to be able to stay at home and sleep in your own bed is priceless."
Monday's first two rounds will begin at 7:30 a.m. CT with tee times, while Tuesday's final round is slated to start at 8 a.m. with tee times.
WKU has previously hosted the event – named for pro golfer, Hilltopper product and Franklin, Ky., resident Kenny Perry – three times since 2012.
Arkansas State was the 2015 team champion, while Memphis' Thomas Perrot was the individual medalist. WKU finished fourth as a team a year ago.
The Hilltoppers are coming off a 12th-place finish last week at Akron's Firestone Invitational, paced by sophomore Blake Smith's third top-20 finish of the season in four tries.
WKU will use Smith, sophomore Stuart Easton, redshirt sophomore Billy Tom Sargent, redshirt freshman Linus Lo and freshman Kyle Jeffers in its five-man rotation. That's the lineup the Hilltoppers used in their first two events of the season, including a tie for third place in their opening outing, which was their best result of the young season.
Freshman Tom Bevington, junior Bryant Evans, redshirt junior Colin Frizzell and redshirt senior Nick Thompson will also compete for WKU as individuals.
"We've got a great course here, so it's fun to host our own tournament," Sargent said. "We know it better than anybody else, and I feel really confident about this team and how we can play on this course."
