ROCKWALL, Texas - Postseason action continues for WKU swimming, as the team completed day one of the CSCAA National Invite on Monday.
On the women's side, Mollie McNeel and Ashley Forsyth had the best overall placing, finishing third and fourth, respectively, in the 500 free finals. McNeel hit the wall in 4:53.72 while Forsyth ended the event in 4:54.52. Taylor Counter finished seventh in the consolation finals of the 50 free for 15th overall after stopping the clock in 24.84. The 400 medley relay squad of Andrea VanderMey, Counter, Forsyth and McNeel placed sixth with a time of 3:51.86.
The Hilltoppers also fared well in night one's finals, with Daniel McGee notching the highest individual finish at third in the 500 free with a time of 4:34.25. Tommy Verbrugge placed eighth in the same event after going 4:40.79. In the 200 IM, Chris Goodman had a personal-best time of 1:52.19 to finish fifth while Tj Bland came in first of the event's consolation final with a time of 1:51.7 and Davis Ranburger second at 1:56.35 for ninth and 10th overall, respectively.
John Smith, Brennan Elsas and Ryan Burcham also made showings in the finals of the 50 free. Smith finished seventh at 21.05 while Elsas was fifth in the consolation finals at 21.37 and Burcham sixth at 21.42.
In the 400 medley relay, the tandem of Goodman, Bland, Smith and Elsas finished third at 3:20.19 while Smith, Elsas, Burcham and Ranburger took fourth in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:24.03.
