BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Women's Tennis will be the No. 6 seed in the upcoming Conference USA Women's Tennis Championship, which will take place April 16-19 at the Liberty Tennis Complex in Lynchburg, Virginia. The Lady Toppers will open play against Louisiana Tech at 12 p.m. CT on Thursday, April 17.
"Louisiana Tech is a great team – very deep and well-coached," WKU Women's Tennis Head Coach Greg Davis said. "I'm proud of the team for getting a bye two years in a row. It is a great accomplishment and reward for a great regular season record."
WKU finished the regular season last week with a 15-9 overall record. The 15 wins are tied for the third-most in a single season in program history.
It is the second straight season the program has reached the CUSA quarterfinals – the Lady Toppers also opened the 2024 tournament against Louisiana Tech in the quarterfinal round, but as the No. 5 seed. Prior to last season, the program had not been to the league's quarterfinals since 2018.
WKU is 6-5 all-time against Louisiana Tech. The last meeting came in last season's conference tournament – a 4-0 Louisiana Tech win. The Bulldogs enter the tournament with a 17-8 record this season.
The CUSA Women's Tennis Championship will begin on Wednesday, April 16, with a pair of 9 a.m. CT matches. No. 8 New Mexico State will face No. 9 UTEP, and No. 7 Jax State will take on No. 10 Sam Houston. The quarterfinal matches will take place on Thursday, April 17. In the top half of the bracket, No. 4 Kennesaw State and No. 5 Liberty will play at 9 a.m. CT, and top-seeded FIU will face the New Mexico State/UTEP winner at 12 p.m. CT. In addition to WKU's match against Louisiana Tech on Thursday, No. 2 Middle Tennessee will play the Jax State/Sam Houston winner at 9 a.m. CT. The semifinals are scheduled for 9 a.m. CT on Friday, April 18, and the CUSA Championship Match is set for 9 a.m. CT on Saturday, April 19. All matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
