ABOUT THE TOPS
- WKU took on Lindsey Wilson in a preseason exhibition last week, coming out with a gritty 52-41 win. Zsofia Telegdy led WKU in scoring with 12 points to go with seven rebounds. Mya Pratcher joined her in double figures with 10 points and eight rebounds.
- The Lady Toppers are 37-15 in season openers all-time and 41-11 all-time in home openers. The Lady Toppers have won two straight season and home openers coming into Wednesday's game.
- WKU returns eight from the 2024-25 roster in Zsofia Telegdy, Torri James, Tia Shelling, Caleigh-Rose West, Mya Pratcher, Tatum Boettjer, Yendri Acosta and Salma Khedr. Telegdy is the only returning starter from a season ago. Boettjer will make her Lady Topper debut after sitting out the 2024-25 season due to injury.
- The Lady Toppers welcomed six newcomers this season, including transfers Trinity Rowe, Jeniffer Silva and Tobi Ademuwagun and incoming freshmen Lola Bond, Elif Naz Dal and Enni Ahervuo. Rowe was the 2025 Sun Belt Freshman of the Year at Southern Miss last year.
- The 2025-26 roster is a veteran one with six seniors or fifth years. While the roster is an older one, no player has been at WKU longer than two seasons.
- WKU will have international flavor once again with six international players. That is the most on a Lady Topper team all time, topping last season's five international players.
- The Lady Toppers were picked fifth in the Conference USA preseason poll behind Louisiana Tech, Liberty, Middle Tennessee and Missouri State. WKU has met or exceeded their placement in the CUSA preseason poll in seven of the last nine seasons.
- Trinity Rowe is the 15th Miss Kentucky Basketball to play at WKU all time and the first since Ivy Brown (2015-18). The fifteen Miss Kentucky Basketball winners that have suited up for the Lady Toppers are the most for any team in the country.
- Greg Collins is entering his eighth season as head coach at WKU, which is the third longest tenure of any Lady Topper head coach all time.
SERIES INFORMATION
- Wednesday's game will be the 13th meeting all-time between the two teams. WKU owns a 12-0 record against the Thorobreds, including two wins in the last five seasons.
- Last season, the Lady Toppers notched a 104-49 win against Kentucky State in the 2024-25 home opener. Mya Pratcher had 12 points, six rebounds and three steals in that game. Salma Khedr had nine points, three rebounds and two steals and Torri James added seven points and two rebounds.
ABOUT THE THOROBREDS
- Kentucky State finished last season 9-17, including an 8-11 record in conference play.
- Second-year head coach Amani Williams reloaded the roster with eight newcomers to join six returners from last season. The top returner is Diara McBroom who averaged 6.5 points per game and 4.1 rebounds per game last season and was the team's leading assist earner with 51 total.
