OXFORD, Miss. – WKU Track and Field wrapped up a successful second day of action at the Joe Walker Invitational. The day's results culminated in over ten new personal bests for WKU.
On the day's events, head coach Brent Chumbley said "We had a lot of good performances today, a lot of PRs. Highlight is probably Katie with a PR and school record of 1.86 in the high jump. This moves her to second in the East Region and fourth in the nation right now. Looking forward to a weekend off before our final run towards Conference USA Championships."
The women's high jump squad once again took center stage for the Red and White, claiming the top three spots in the event led by Katie Isenbarger who smashed the previous school record of 1.82 meters. Emilia Lesniak and Grace Turner rounded out the top three for WKU.
Nick Fornoff recorded a new personal record in the men's event, clearing 1.99 meters.
Luke Stegman managed a podium finish in the discus, going for 50.65 meters, claiming third.
On the track, Kameron Horton had a successful day, setting a new PR in the 110 meter hurdles and taking first place in the 100 meter dash. Gianna Huerta set new bests in both the 100 and 400 hurdles. Her 400 Hurdles finish was good enough for seventh place.
For the distance Tops, Trevor Hudnall had a career day as well, setting new bests in both the 800 and 1500. In the 1500, he finished inside the top-10, taking seventh, finishing in 3:54. Wade Balcom added a new best in the 1500.
