EUGENE, Ore. – WKU track and field concluded its 2026 outdoor season on Wednesday night as Sam Crenshaw and Kameron Horton represented the Hilltoppers at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships at historic Hayward Field. Â
Crenshaw opened competition for WKU in the men's pole vault final, clearing 5.35m to finish tied for 22nd in the nation in the event. The mark matched both a personal best and school record previously set with a first-place performance in the men's pole vault at the 2026 Conference USA Outdoor Championships on May 14. Crenshaw later equaled the mark at the NCAA East First Round in Lexington on May 27 to secure a spot at the national meet.
Crenshaw wraps a historic season that saw the sophomore claim both the indoor and outdoor CUSA titles in the men's pole vault.
Horton followed in the men's 200-meter semifinal and clocked a finishing time of 20.70, good for fifth place in heat three of the event. With the performance, Horton finishes 18th in the nation at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Horton previously posted a qualifying time of 20.42 in the men's 200-meter event at the NCAA East First Round in Lexington on May 29, and earned a second-place podium finish in the 200-meter dash at the CUSA Outdoor Championships on May 16. Horton's time of 20.29 in the 200 meters at the CUSA Outdoor Championships marked a new person best and earned a third medal at the conference championship meet, adding to a second-place finish in the men's 100-meter dash and third-place finish in the men's 4x100 relay. With a finishing time of 10.11 in the 100 meters, Horton also secured a new school record in the event.
