Nine Seniors Recognized at Second Day of Hilltopper Relays

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Track and Field wrapped up action at the 2024 Hilltopper Relays.

The Hilltoppers honored nine seniors for their dedication and devotion to the program. Ilana Anderson, Rachel Flinchum, Netanya Linares, Zack Martinez, Devon Montgomery, Rory O'Connor, Lucy Rutherford, Tayelor Thrasher-Walker, and Grace Turner were all recognized by head coach Brent Chumbley and Director of Athletics Todd Stewart.

On the second day of the relays, head coach Brent Chumbley said "I was really happy with our team spirit, our togetherness in supporting one another which was great. I thought that everything we competed in, we competed very well. We hope to get ready and have a good meet next weekend at Ole Miss."

Starting the day off in the field, Kennedy Coradini and Sophia Roskoski competed in the discus, finishing in third and fourth respectively. On the men's side, five competed for the Red and White with Luke Stegman leading the way, tossing 47.64 meters.

For the vaulters, Turner and Roskoski led the way, each clearing 3.78 meters. This marked a personal best for Roskoski.

In the women's javelin, Coradini took first place throwing 28.16 meters, followed by senior Anderson who took home third place.

On the track, the women's 4x100 relay team claimed a third place finish. Then, in the women's 1500 meter race, places one through six were filled by Hilltoppers. In the men's race, Trevor Hudnall took first finishing in four minutes flat.

In both 800 races, Hilltoppers finished on top with Addie Frisch winning the womens in 2:28. For the men, Garrett Steed led the way finishing in 2:03

Netanya Linares claimed victory in the 100 meter hurdles, finishing in 14.09. In the women's 400 meter hurdles Gianna Huerta claimed third and Madison Rabe followed behind in fourth.

The Hilltoppers will head south next week for the Joe Walker Invitational Friday and Saturday, April 5-6. The meet will be hosted by Ole Miss.
