ABOUT THE TOPS
- WKU is 8-1 on the season coming into the tournament. The Lady Toppers started the season 7-0 before dropping their first game of the season to Wichita State. WKU bounced back with an 88-61 win against Kentucky Wesleyan on Dec. 11.
- Four different WKU players are averaging double-digit points this season: Alexis Mead – 15.4 PPG, Acacia Hayes – 12.1 PPG, Josie Gilvin – 11.7 PPG, Destiny Salary – 10.1 PPG. WKU has had six different leading scorers through nine games this season. Alexis Mead has led the team in scoring in three straight games, Acacia Hayes led the team twice and Zsofia Telegdy, Destiny Salary, Josie Gilvin and Mackenzie Chatfield have each led the team once.
- The Lady Toppers are averaging 13.8 steals per game this season, which is the ninth best rate in the country. Four different Lady Toppers are top 12 in steals per game in CUSA (Acacia Hayes: 3.00, 4th; Alexis Mead: 2.78, 5th; Josie Gilvin: 2.22, 7th; Mackenzie Chatfield: 1.89, 12th).
- WKU went undefeated in November with a perfect 6-0 record in the month. It's the first time a Lady Topper team has notched an undefeated record through a whole month (3 games played minimum) since going 7-0 in February of 2017.
- Five Lady Toppers come to Bowling Green internationally, which is the highest number of international athletes WKU women's basketball has had on one team in program history.
- The Lady Toppers were picked to finish fourth in the Conference USA preseason coaches poll, behind Middle Tennessee, Liberty and FIU and above Louisiana Tech in fifth.
SERIES INFORMATION
- Oregon State
- Thursday's game will be the fifth meeting all-time between WKU and Oregon State. Of the five games played between the two teams, four have been played in a tournament setting. The first two were in the NCAA Tournament, one was in the Vancouver Classic and this season's is in the Maui Classic.
- The Beavers have a 3-1 record against the Lady Toppers and have won three straight in the series. The first meeting between the two teams was in the 1995 NCAA Tournament in Bowling Green. The Lady Toppers won that game, 85-78. The latest meeting was last season in Corvallis where Oregon State won, 76-52.
- Nevada
- Friday's game will be just the second between WKU and Nevada all-time.
- The two teams met last season in the Missouri State Classic where WKU came away with a 66-60 win.
ABOUT THE BEAVERS
- Oregon State is coming off an Elite Eight appearance last season. The Beavers are 3-7 this season with wins against Northwest Nazarene, Boston College and Grambling State and losses to Colorado State, Minnesota, Arizona State, Illinois, UConn, Pacific and UC Irvine.
- The Beavers have two averaging double figure points this season. AJ Marotte leads the team in scoring, putting up 11.8 points per game. Kelsey Rees is second on the team, averaing 10.4 points per game. Rees is also the team's leading rebounder, pulling down 7.5 boards per game.
ABOUT THE WOLF PACK
- Nevada is 5-6 on the season with wins against Bushnell, UC Santa Barbara, Morgan State, Southern Utah and Cal State East Bay and losses to Oregon, Colorado, Weber State, Central Michigan, Portland and Pepperdine.
- The Wolf Pack will play Miami in the first game of the Maui Classic.
- Nevada has four players averaging double figure points. Kennedy Lee leads the team, averaging 11.7 points per game. Victoria is putting up 11.5 points per game, Lexie Givens is scoring 11.4 and Izzy Sullivan is averaging 10.3. Givens is the team's leading rebounder, pulling down 6.0 boards per game.
