ABOUT THE TOPS
- WKU is off to the third best start in program history with a 6-0 start to the season. It's the first time WKU has been 6-0 to start a season since the 1994-95 season.
- Five different WKU players are averaging double-digit points this season: Acacia Hayes – 13.8 PPG, Alexis Mead – 12.3 PPG, Destiny Salary – 11.5 PPG, Josie Gilvin – 11.2 PPG and Mackenzie Chatfield – 10.7 PPG.
- The Lady Toppers defeated Tennessee State 92-62 most recently. WKU players tied or reached 12 new career highs in the game, including Mackenzie Chatfield's game-leading 20 points and Destiny Salary's first career double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
- WKU went undefeated in November with a perfect 6-0 record in the month. It's the first time a Lady Topper team has notched an undefeated record through a whole month (3 games played minimum) since going 7-0 in February of 2017.
- Acacia Hayes earned Conference USA Player of the Week on Monday for her efforts last week. The junior put up 21 points against North Dakota and 14 at Abilene Christian. Hayes is leading CUSA in field goal percentage (61.5) and is second in steals per game (3.83). Her takeaways per game are the sixth most in the country.
- Alexis Mead became the 43rd member of the Lady Topper 1,000 Point Club last Sunday against North Dakota. The senior is 13 assists away and 10 steals away from reaching WKU's career top 10 in each category.
- Defense is a hallmark for Greg Collins' teams on The Hill. WKU has finished in the top 30 nationally in steals per game in four of the last five seasons and currently have the ninth best steals per game rate in the country (14.7). Last season the Lady Toppers held opponents to 63.5 points per game, the lowest average of any Collins coached team at WKU. So far this season WKU has not allowed more than 69 points in a game.
- Five Lady Toppers come to Bowling Green internationally, which is the highest number of international athletes WKU women's basketball has had on one team in program history.
- The Lady Toppers were picked to finish fourth in the Conference USA preseason coaches poll, behind Middle Tennessee, Liberty and FIU and above Louisiana Tech in fifth.
