About the Lady Toppers
- The Lady Toppers are off to a 3-1 start to the season. WKU will be playing its fourth game in eight days on Saturday at Miami. Three of those four games have been on the road.
- Four games into the 2023-24 season, WKU's defense is once again putting up big numbers. The Lady Toppers are averaging 15.0 steals per game, which is second in CUSA and is 10th nationally. WKU is forcing teams into 24.25 turnovers per game, which is the best average in the league and the 25th most in the country.
- WKU has four players in the top 100 in total steals this season. Teresa Faustino has the sixth most steals in the country with 14, Alexis Mead has the 36th most with 10, Josie Gilvin is 54th with nine and Karris Allen is 83rd with eight.
- Freshman Caitlin Staley's 10 blocks this season is the most of any CUSA player and the second most in the country. Alexis Mead has dished out 20 assists so far this season and that mark is the best in the conference and 20th in the nation. Acacia Hayes' 66 points this season leads the league and is the 28th most in the country.
- Hayes is WKU's leading scorer through four games, putting up 16.5 points per game. Mead is also averaging double figures, scoring 12.0 points per game. Allen is the team's leading rebounder, pulling down 5.3 boards per game.
- WKU was picked to finish tied for second place in the Conference USA preseason coaches poll released earlier in October. The Lady Toppers are coming off a second place CUSA finish in 2022-23, a championship game appearance in the CUSA tournament and a WNIT berth.
- Hayes and Mead were named to the CUSA Preseason All-Conference Team in October.
Series Notes
- Saturday's matchup between WKU and Miami will be the seventh all-time. The Lady Toppers have a 6-0 record against the RedHawks, including a 3-0 mark in Oxford.
- The last meeting between the two teams was on Nov. 21, 2022 when WKU earned a 91-55 victory in Bowling Green.
