TOP STORYLINES
- Head Coach Amy Tudor owns a 15-1 record in season-openers across her career. Coach Tudor enters her 17th season as a head coach – eighth on The Hill – this season with a career record of 419-349-2.
- The Hilltoppers enter the campaign with a veteran squad as they will be returning 17 players from last season's team that finished 20-5. Hilltopper veterans Kelsey Aikey and Paige Carter have posted a 116-75 record during their time as at WKU as they enter their fifth season in the Red and White.
- WKU Softball owns a 1-2 all-time record against Kennesaw State, winning the first-ever meeting in 2012 before falling to the Owls in 2017 and 2019 each by scores of 2-1.
- The Hilltoppers are 4-2 all-time against Chattanooga, winning the two most recent meetings with the Mocs. Most recently, WKU downed UTC 12-2 during the 2020 campaign.
- WKU is scheduled to face Indiana State four times across the next nine days, with two neutral-site meetings taking place this weekend in Chattanooga. The Tops lead the all-time series against the Sycamores 10-2.
- WKU catcher Kendall Smith has been named one of 30 NCAA Division I softball candidates for the 2021 Senior CLASS Award. The Bowling Green, Ky., native is the second student-athlete in WKU Softball program history in as many seasons to be named a candidate and is the lone honoree from Conference USA this season.
- WKU Softball was predicted to win the Conference USA East Division by league coaches, receiving eight first place votes. Individually, pitchers Kelsey Aikey and Shelby Nunn, along with catcher Kendall Smith have been named to the Preseason All-Conference Team.
- The Hilltoppers' Opening Weekend (Feb. 12-14) trip to compete in the Georgia Southern-hosted Bash in the Boro tournament was canceled due to inclement weather in both Bowling Green and Georgia.
