BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Football ended a rainy practice Wednesday evening in preparation for the last home game of the season against the UTEP Miners. The game this Saturday, Nov. 17 at Houchens-Smith Stadium is set for 6:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcasted on beIN Sports.
With this Saturday's game being Senior Night, there will be 10 Hilltoppers who will play in their final game on Feix Field.
The 10 seniors include: Mik'Quan Deane, Drew Eckels, DeAndre Farris, D'Andre Ferby, Drell Greene, Julien Lewis, Der'Quione Mobley, Ryan Nuss, Evan Sayner and Masai Whyte.
When senior safety Drell Greene, who has 167 tackles and two interceptions in his career on The Hill, was asked about how it felt to play in his last home game for WKU he said: "It hasn't really hit me yet, but it's probably going to hit me when I walk across the field."

In their last game, UTEP lost 48-32 to Middle Tennessee. It was the second week in a row scoring over 30 points led by quarterback Kai Locksley, who threw for 163 yards and a touchdown. A dual-threat option, Locksley has more rushing touchdowns (6) than passing touchdowns (3) this season for the Miners.
"They have some athletes on the field, the quarterback Kai Locksley is a smooth, athletic guy who can throw," defensive coordinator Clayton White said when asked about UTEP's offense during the Monday press conference. "His strength is definitely being able to read the defense and the coverage and read the run game as a quarterback."

Last year's matchup between WKU and UTEPÂ resulted in a 15-14 Hilltopper victory. Both teams are currently 1-9 overall this season and both teams are looking for a bounce-back win after coming off a loss.

Going beyond this season, the Hilltopper Football program "has a nice future" according to senior linebacker Masai Whyte: "They have a lot of potential. Some guys really stepped up and played a lot this year."

One of those young players who has shown potential is redshirt freshman defensive lineman Juwuan Jones. After sitting out the 2017 campaign to make the physical switch from linebacker to defensive end, Jones has amassed 4.0 sacks to tie the single-season record by a freshman in WKU's FBS Era.
