2018 (r-Sr.) | 12/12: Whyte started all 12 games for the Hilltoppers in his senior campaign and finished with a career-high 76 total tackles on the season, good for second-most among all WKU defenders. Whyte filled up the stat sheet with six tackles for loss, four sacks, a 27-yard interception, and three pass breakups. Whyte's 4.0 sacks led all WKU linebackers, and his play against Marshall - which included the interception, landed him on the Pro Football Focus Conference USA Team of the Week. According to PFF, Whyte finished with the best pass rushing grade by any WKU defender .
2017 (r-Jr.) | 13/9: Whyte appeared in all 13 games in his redshirt junior season, starting nine at linebacker for WKU. He ranked fifth on the team with 63 tackles (35 solo, 28 assisted), including a career-high nine on Nov. 11 at Marshall. He recorded eight takedowns on three other occasions, and picked up seven on Sept. 16 vs. Louisiana Tech. He had three pass breakups on the season, while adding a tackle for loss on Nov. 4 at Vanderbilt and a forced fumble in the Cure Bowl vs. Georgia State.
2016 (r-So.) | 11/2: Whyte appeared in 11 games and picked up the first two starts of his career, against Houston Baptist and LA Tech. Whyte tallied 34 tackles (17 solo) on the season to go along with a pair of tackles for loss and one sack vs. FIU. He enjoyed a career day against HBU, tallying eight total tackles and had five tackles at No. 1 Alabama and Florida Atlantic. At Louisiana Tech, Whyte tallied seven tackles and one tackle for loss. Six of Whyte’s tackles came on kickoff coverage.
2015 (r-Fr.) | 13/0: Whyte saw action in 13 games - missing the C-USA Championship Game - and tallied 22 tackles as one of WKU’s top special teams contributors. Of his 22 tackles (12 solo), 13 came on special teams (10 kickoff, 3 punt return). His three tackles on punt return led the Hilltoppers. Whyte’s best day came against Miami (Ohio) when he had five tackles (two solo) and a tackle for loss, the first of his career. He added one pass breakup at Rice.
2014 (Fr): Whyte redshirted his first season on The Hill.
HS/Misc.: Whyte brought a KHSAA 4A state championship from Collins HS after playing for coach Jerry Lucas. Whyte turned in a stellar senior season, finishing with 200 tackles and three sacks, giving him 466 career tackles, nine forced fumbles and four interceptions. He earned Associate Press First Team All-State honors and Lexington-Herald Leader’s Class of the Commonwealth. Whyte was also a Best of the Bluegrass All-Star and was named to the First Team All-District team. He was rated as the No. 16 prospect in Kentucky by 247Sports.com while Scout and Rivals ranked him as a two-star prospect.
