BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Elpida Malamou will make WKU history becoming the first Lady Topper to compete at the ITA Women's All-American Championships. The graduate student is set to take on the best in women's collegiate tennis starting Sept. 30 in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
Malamou, a native of Ioannina, Greece, has seen great success in her three years on The Hill. She has collected a 37-10 career singles record, making her the winningest Lady Topper in WKU Tennis history. She has also posted a 23-13 doubles record for the Red and White, the fourth most doubles wins in a career. Malamou sits just three doubles wins out from tying the all-time record set by fellow Greece native, former Lady Topper Andreanna Christopoulou.
With her fourth season as a Lady Topper underway, Malamou leads the WKU record books in consecutive single-season victories with 13, spanning the 2016 fall and 2017 spring seasons. She was selected to the All-Conference singles first team by Conference USA last spring. Graduating from WKU in 2017 with a major in Psychology and a minor in Athletic Coaching, Malamou is now pursuing her master's of Recreation and Sport Administration – Intercollegiate Athletic Administration on The Hill.
