BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Andreanna Christopoulou earned All-Conference USA Singles Second Team honors for her play in the 2016 season, the league announced on Friday afternoon. Christopoulou is one of 12 on the Second Team.
"I'm so happy to see Andreanna receive this recognition," commented head coach Jonatan Berhane. "I couldn't be more proud of everything Andreanna has accomplished this season with a national ranking, all-conference honors, and a regional ranking in doubles. On top of all of that, she has done extremely well in the classroom and received recognition for that as well."
Christopoulou finished the season with an 11-3 record in the spring including an impressive 7-1 record at the No. 1 spot. The junior started the season with a No. 114 ranking by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and at one point this season strung together an eight-match winning streak.
The Athens, Greece native also was named to the C-USA All-Academic team for her work in the classroom. She has maintained a 4.00 GPA while double majoring in Criminology and Economics. Christopoulou also earned All-Conference USA Doubles Third Team honors last season.
Christopoulou and doubles partner Cynthia Melita Setyawan played the majority of the matches at the No. 1 spot and put together a perfect 9-0 record in the spring. The duo was ranked No. 9 in the Ohio Valley Region by the ITA. The region includes Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Louisville, Tennessee and many other top-ranked teams.
