BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Andreanna Christopoulou was named to the Conference USA women's tennis All-Academic team, the league announced on Tuesday. Christopoulou is one of six on the team and is WKU's first women's tennis player named to a conference academic team.
The junior holds a perfect 4.0 GPA with a Criminology and Economics double major. The Athens, Greece native has posted an 11-2 record in singles this season, including an undefeated 7-0 record at the No. 1 spot. Christopoulou's No. 1 record leads C-USA. She and doubles partner Cynthia Melita Setyawan are a perfect 8-0 this season at the No. 1 doubles spot, which also leads C-USA.
Christopoulou started the spring season ranked No. 114 by the ITA. She was the first WKU women's player to be ranked in the ITA singles rankings. She and Melita Setyawan are currently ranked No. 9 in the Ohio Valley region by the ITA.
The Lady Toppers will take on Middle Tennessee on Thursday in the C-USA Championship held in Murfreesboro, Tenn. WKU is the nine-seed while Middle Tennessee is the eight-seed. The winner of the match faces No. 1 seeded FIU on Friday.
