BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The WKU tennis team will open the 2016 spring season on Friday and Saturday in Louisville, taking on Southern Illinois and Louisville at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The matches kick off a 17-match schedule for the Lady Toppers.
The Lady Toppers finished fall play in November with an overall record of 46-20 in four tournaments. The fall schedule was highlighted by junior Andreanna Christopoulou who went 7-1 in singles and received a No. 114 ITA ranking in January. She and her doubles partner, Cynthia Melita, had a 7-2 record in the fall and were ranked No. 9 in the Ohio Valley region.
WKU faced both SIU and Louisville last season. The Lady Toppers traveled to Carbondale, Ill. on March 20 where the Salukis squeaked by with a 4-3 win. WKU then went on the road to Louisville on April 4 and the Cardinals came out on top 5-2.
WKU will first go against SIU on Friday at 2:30 PM (CT) and then Louisville on Saturday at 9:30 AM (CT).
