BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- WKU head women's tennis coach Jonatan Berhane announced Tuesday the signings of Tereza Hejlova and Cassie Pennington to National Letters of Intent to play for the Lady Toppers in 2014-15.
Hejlova held a top national ranking in her home country, Czech Republic. She earned a career-high ranking of 1140 in the Women's Tennis Association and recorded wins over Ysaline Bonaventure, ranked 465 in the world, and Viktoria Malova, No. 22-ranked in the world in the 18 and under division.
"Tereza is an aggressive baseline player who likes to dictate the play." Berhane said. "I think with the five incoming players and our returning players, we have a good foundation for WKU Tennis."
Prior to WKU, Pennington played tennis at Greenwood High School where she won the 4th Region title five years in a row and advanced as far as the quarterfinals in the Kentucky State Tournament.
"I'm very excited to have Cassie, and she will be a great addition to our WKU Tennis team." Berhane said. "She is willing to put in the hard work to develop her game and take it to the next level."
