BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Hall of Fame coach Jeff True will lead his Hilltopper tennis squad into a pair of matches this week. The Hilltoppers travel to Murray, Ky., to play Murray State on Thursday at 2 p.m. before heading to Athens, Tenn., to face Tennessee-Wesleyan at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
WKU is coming off a 7-0 victory at Alabama A&M to improve to 3-6 on the season. No. 1 doubles duo Josh Smith and Alex Taranda are riding a four-match win streak. Smith, a senior, also leads the team in singles wins with six. Senior J.T. Closi and sophomore Alex Stewart have won three doubles matches in a row, with one of those three coming at the No. 2 slot.
Murray State won last year's match 6-1. On Saturday, WKU and Tennessee-Wesleyan will meet for the first time. The Lady Toppers are back in action on April 4 against Tennessee State.
