BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Hall of Fame head coach Jeff True and his Lady Topper tennis squad will take to the courts on Wednesday in Murray, Ky., to take on No. 47 Tennessee at 3 p.m. It will be the Lady Toppers' first match against a ranked opponent since before the 2008-09 season.
The Lady Toppers are 4-5 on the year and are coming off a 5-1 loss to NKU last Thursday. The Lady Volunteers (5-8) snapped a four-game losing streak when they defeated No. 54 South Carolina on Sunday.
"We have an opportunity on Wednesday to see how we match up with an SEC opponent," said True. "We're trying to get better every day so we can be prepared for the conference tournament in April.
Senior Carolina Barboza has won three of her last four singles matches to improve her record to 5-3 this season. In doubles play, Barboza and sophomore Gabby Crofford have won two straight at the No. 2 spot. WKU's No. 1 singles player, senior Monta Reinfelde, will look to end her two-match losing streak on Wednesday. Reinfelde is 5-4 on the year and 46-12 all time at the top singles spot.
