BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Both WKU tennis teams return to the court as the Lady Toppers (1-1) head south to Nashville to face Belmont (1-1) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday and the Hilltoppers look to start their season 3-0 as they take on Southern Indiana (2-0) at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday in Evansville, Ind.
On their last trip to the Music City, the Lady Toppers fell 5-2 to the Bruins, despite sweeping doubles play. Senior Monta Reinfelde is a perfect 2-0 at the No. 1 singles position thus far this season, a streak she hopes to continue Friday.
After picking up a pair of wins in the opening weekend, the Hilltoppers look to start the season 3-0 for the first time since 2010 when WKU went 4-0 before losing a match. The Hilltoppers were originally slated to play USI two weeks ago, but were forced to reschedule due to inclement weather.
Junior J.T. Closi went 2-0 at the No. 1 singles position last weekend against Georgetown (Ky.) and Bellarmine, taking both victories in straight sets. Closi also went 2-0 at the No. 1 doubles position with partner Alex Taranda.
