BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Junior Ellinor Haag shot a one-over 145 (72-73) on Monday in the opening two rounds of the Blue Raider Invitational to lead the field while the WKU women's golf team finished the day in 15th place with a 56-over 632 (318-314).
Haag has a one stroke lead with one round remaining at the Old Fort Golf Club in Murfreesboro, Tenn. It is her best 36-hole showing so far this fall and Haag has close competition behind her with four other individuals tied for second with two-over 146 scores.
WKU finished the day, however, without another individual inside the top 50 as sophomore Daniela Galassi shot a 15-over 159 (84-75) and freshman Emily Alexander finished the day 20-over with a 164 (82-82) to tie for 75th.
Junior McKenzie Smith matched Alexander's total score and place, shooting 80-84 while freshman Hannah Turner, in her first event as a Lady Topper, shot a 27-over 171 (87-84), finishing the day in 86th place.
The Lady Toppers will return to the course tomorrow for the final round of the event as Haag searches for her second career medalist showing.
