Huntsville, Ala. - The WKU women's tennis team picked up a pair of wins to conclude their Alabama road trip, defeating Alabama A&M 5-2 on Wednesday and Alabama-Huntsville 6-1 on Thursday.
Junior No.1 Monta Reinfelde continued her perfect start to the season by knocking off Alabama A&M's Denise Cherry 6-1, 6-2 and Alabama-Huntsville's Linda Carvajal 6-3, 6-1. Reinfelde is 8-0 and has now won 37 of 42 career singles matches.
Sophomore Carolina Barboza improved to 6-3 on the year after a pair of victories and sisters Alex and Gabby Crofford both knocked their win totals up to five after securing two wins apiece.
Doubles play has been a bright spot for WKU this season as the duos of Monta Reinfelde/Madeline Phillips, Gabby Crofford/McKinley Mason and Alex Crofford/Carolina Barboza have combined to win 17 of 22 matches. Reinfelde and Phillips are 6-2 at No.1 doubles while the No.2 and No.3 pairing both have five wins.
The Lady Toppers currently sit at 6-3 as they enter Sun Belt Conference play against UALR Saturday morning at Bowling Green High School.
