Cincinnati, Ohio - The WKU men's tennis team split its weekend double-header at Georgetown (Ky.) and Xavier, defeating the Tigers 6-1 on Friday evening while falling to the Musketeers 7-0 Saturday afternoon.
The Hilltoppers were dominant in their first win of the season at Georgetown, cruising through doubles play 3-0 to earn the point while winning five of six singles slots.
Five different Hilltoppers won from their singles and doubles positions, highlighted by true freshman Alex Taranda's first career win from No.1 singles. Taranda defeated the Tigers' Gustavo Echeverria 6-1, 6-1 while teaming with fellow freshman Alex Stewart to win from the No.2 doubles slot at 8-3.
Freshman Connor Shea saw his first-career action at Georgetown, picking up the win at No.6 singles with a 3-6, 7-5, 10-7 decision over Josh Clay. Sophomore Andrew Fish notched his first singles win of the young season with a 6-2, 6-4 handling of Georgetown's Jacob Loveland.
