KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Western Kentucky University swimming team closed out the AT&T Winter Nationals on Saturday after a strong showing in each of the three days' finals, including four swimmers in the last day's events.
Allie Duff began the night with a time of 1:59.38 in the 200 back, good for 16th place. Duff made it to the finals each night of the USA Swimming National Championships, including this event, as she qualified in the prelims with a time of 1:56.93 that is just barely behind her season best 1:56.92.
Claire Conlon followed Duff with a 13th-place finish in the 200 breast after hitting the wall in 2:12.24, shaving off over two seconds from her prelim time and becoming a new season-best time.
WKU swim alum and newly-crowned national champion in the 100 fly, Claire Donahue, closed out the evening with a seventh-place time of 1:56.93 in the 200 fly. Heitor Rodrigues made it to his respective 200 fly final, completing the event in 1:47.74 for 20th.
In the morning's prelims, Chris Goodman finished the 200 back in 1:49.27 while Amy Halligan stopped the clock in 2:17.92 in the 200 breast. T.J. Bland just missed the cut for qualifying in the men's 200 breast after finishing in 2:01.34 while Connor Dwyer also completed the race in 2:07.12.
