BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The WKU men's tennis team will travel to Troy, Al., to take part in the 2010 Sun Belt Shootout over the weekend. The Hilltoppers will open play against top-seeded Denver Friday at 2:00 PM on the campus of Troy University. Denver is currently ranked 29th in the most recent ITA poll and enters the shootout with a 14-2 overall record.
The Hilltoppers (8-4) ended a two-match skid on Monday, dominating Tennessee State 7-0 on the road in Nashville, Tenn. Senior Thomas Krug moved into eighth place all-time in singles victories, earning his 50th career win. Krug is currently 50-7 for his career and holds the highest winning percentage of any Hilltopper tennis player in history, at .877.
The winner of Friday's match will move on to play the winner of fourth-seeded South Alabama and fifth-seeded ULL, Saturday at 11:00 AM. The loser of the WKU-Denver matchup will occupy the 8:30 AM game against the loser of the South Alabama-ULL match.
