BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Both the men's and women's tennis teams dropped a weekend match to Lindsey Wilson College, with the Lady Toppers falling 6-1, and the Hilltoppers losing in the final singles match to decide a 4-3 outcome.
For the women, it was the first match since March 8, after the last three matches were all rained out. The Lady Toppers (5-5) dropped all three in doubles play, but did pick up one win in singles play, as Alicia DiTommaso picked up a win in her first singles match of the season. DiTommaso outlasted Lindsey Sheene in three sets, 5-7, 7-5, 10-7.
On the men's side, WKU split in singles play, but dropped two of three in doubles. Both Lance Freeman and Thomas Krug had their winning streaks snapped, as Krug's singles streak ended at nine straight, while Freeman had an eight-match winning streak snapped. Krug is just one singles win away from winning his 50th career singles match at WKU. Arul Selvan improved to 8-2 on the year in singles, defeating Andre Santos 7-6, 6-2. Craig Kirchgessner and Bobby Whitmer also picked up wins in singles play, with Kirchgessner defeating Marlon Dalpont 6-4, 6-0, and Whitmer taking down Justin Martin 6-4, 6-4.
Both the Hilltoppers and Lady Toppers will return to action tomorrow, March 29, against Tennessee State in Nashville, Tenn.
