The Lady Toppers’ record improved to 2-2 on the year as the Lady Bisons fell to 4-5.
“The final score doesn’t indicate how tight the match was played,” head coach Jeff True said. “This was a very competitive match and a good win for the Lady Toppers.”
Erin Fulkerson and Ilze Rozentale took three sets to win each of their singles matches. Fulkerson defeated Erin Moakler 4-6, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 1 while Rozentale won 6-3, 1-6, 6-4, in the third flight.
Christina Hall took down Emily Ellis 7-5, 6-1, at No. 2, while Whitney Robards and Ieva Balcus rounded out the five singles wins for WKU.
In doubles, Fulkerson and Robards earned a victory at No. 1, 8-6, and Hall and Laura Caffey took care of Caitlin Khouri and Mary Beth Muncher, 8-4.
The Lady Toppers turn right around and take on Lindsey Wilson at 5 p.m. (CST) at Total Fitness on Saturday. The women will follow the Hilltoppers match as the men begin at 2 p.m.
