The Lady Toppers improved their record to 6-12 on the year as the Hilltoppers moved to 12-8.
“It was great to come here today and finish out the home schedule with two victories,” head coach Jeff True said after the match. “We could have really slacked off for today’s match, but we played great from start to finish.”
The Lady Toppers breezed through their lineup as Ilze Rozentale won at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-2 and Ieva Balcus defeated Melaney Whiting, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2. Dana Underdonk, Brittany Waiz and Laura Caffey each earned victories as well in singles, but Jillian Becher had the easiest win at No. 5, 6-0, 6-0.
The Hilltoppers only lost four games in the six singles matches played as Franco Serra, Kyle True, Chad True and Ryan Durham each earned 6-0, 6-0 wins.
The Lady Toppers will be back in action Thursday (April 14) as they go to Evansville, Ind. to take on Southern Indiana at 3 p.m. (CDT). Both teams will play a doubleheader Saturday (April 16) with a trip to New Albany, Ind. to take on Indiana Southeast with the men at noon and the women at 1 p.m.
