The Lady Toppers record fell to 6-13 on the season as Southern Indiana moved to 12-4 in the spring.
With the teams splitting the six singles matches it came down to the three doubles matches to decide the outcome. Ieva Balcus and Brittany Waiz won at No. 2 doubles, 8-2, but Western couldn't collect any more victories to win the match.
In singles action, Balcus won at No. 2, 6-2, 6-7, 10-5, over Ashley Rees. Dana Underdonk took down Maggie Coffman at No. 5, 6-3, 6-0 with Jillian Becher winning at No. 6, 6-4, 6-1.
The Lady Toppers will return to action Sunday in Columbia, Ky., to take on Lindsey Wilson at 1 p.m. (CDT). This will be the last regular season match before the Sun Belt Conference tournament on April 22.
