Indianapolis, Ind. - The Westen Kentucky women's tennis team dropped a tight 4-3 decision to IUPUI last Saturday.
WKU (0-1) split the singles competitions as Nino Kostava (Sr., Tbilisi, Rep. of Gerogia) defeated Michelle Cunningham 6-4, 6-3 at the #2 position. Olga Kosaka (So., Liepaja, Latvia) recorded Western's second singles win at #5, knocking off Hillary Byard 6-2, 6-1, while Emily Lichtenberg (Fr., Paducah, Ky.) won at #6, 6-0, 6-2, over Pam Brown.
The Jaguars were able to win the doubles point, and the match, by taking two of the three doubles matches. Western's lone win came at #1 doubles as Kostava and Liene Rozentale (Jr., Liepaja, Latvia) held on to beat Cunningham and Natalie Bednar 8-6.
