Milwaukee, Wis. - The Western Kentucky swimming and diving teams completed a successful trip to Wisconsin Sunday afternoon by sweeping Wisconsin-Milwaukee in a dual meet at the Klotsche Center. The women outscored the Lady Panthers 142-96, while the men were nearly as dominating winning 140-88.
The Lady Toppers improved to 11-2 on the season as they won 11 of 12 events they competed in for points. The women were led by senior Carol Brown (Fortaleza-Ce, Brazil/Farias Brito) and freshman Jordan Beck (Normandy, Tenn./Tullahoma). Brown finished first in the 50 Freestyle in 25.43 and the 100 Freestyle in 55.67. Beck set a pool record in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:09.47.
The Western men improved to 5-0 on the year winning seven of 13 events in the meet. Freshman James Campbell (Dacula, Ga./Dacula) was the only two-time winner. Campbell won the 200 Individual Medley (2:00.19) and the 500 Freestyle (4:44.6).
The Hilltoppers and Lady Toppers open their home season this Saturday at 1 p.m. when Cumberland visits the Preston Center.
