Evansville, Ind. - The Western Kentucky women's tennis team competed in the Aces'Fall Classic last weekend hosted by the University of Evansville.
Lady Topper Nino Kostava (Sr., Ibilisi, Rep. of Georgia), advanced in the flight A singles consolation rounds, defeating Tyla Wells of Southeast Missouri State 8-3 and Becky Brunner of East Illinois 8-4. However was beaten by Zarinah Brown of Austin Peay 8-2 in the finals.
Amanda Cummins (Jr., Bowling Green, Ky.) competed in the singles main draw finals of flight D, but was defeated 6-1, 6-1 by Leslie Coleman from Evansville. Erin Colson (So., Owensboro, Ky.) also in flight D, competed in the consolation finals but was beaten by Barb Wolfe of Eastern Illinois 8-1.
Competing in the doubles flight 3, the team of Emily Lichtenberg (Fr., Paducah, Ky.) and Dana Underlonk (Fr., Radcliff, Ky.) defeated a team from Southeast Missouri State 8-4 to advance into the main draw semifinals, where they were defeated 8-0 by Evansville.
Southern Illinois finished the tournament winning singles flights A and B, and doubles flight 1, while Evansville took singles flights C and D, and doubles flights 2 and 3.
This tournament is the only scheduled match for the Lady Toppers until the spring season.
