As a Junior (2013-14): Finished the year with 10 top-10 finishes, including seven in the top five...Helped WKU finish fourth at the Conference USA Championships with a 10th-place finish in the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.89...Also had a personal-best time of 29.54 in the 50 breast at the league event...Best individual finish came with a second-place time of 1:06.76 in the 100 breast against Delta State...Finished third in the 100 breast against Northwestern (1:05.18) and against Florida Atlantic (1:07.48)...Took fourth in the 200 breast versus Delta State after hitting the wall in 2:28.33.
As a Sophomore (2012-13): Spain completed her sophomore season on The Hill with 10 top-10 finishes, including five in the top five. She helped WKU to its ninth conference title in program history, as she scored in two events at the Sun Belt Conference Championship. Spain took fifth in the 100 breast (1:02.88) and eighth in the 200 breast (2:19.11). Spain took first place in the 100 breast (1:07.90) in the season finale against Evansville. She also had a third-place finish during the season, as she finished the 100 breast against Florida Atlantic/Nova Southeastern in 1:07.76. She also finished fifth two times during the regular season, once in the 100 breast (1:08.46) against Delta State and then in the 100 fly (1:01.36) versus the Purple Aces.
As a Freshman (2011-12): In her first season on the Hill, Whitney Spain totaled 11 top-10 finishes in three different events and scored in two events at the 2012 Sun Belt Conference Swimming and Diving Championships. Spain placed seventh in the 100 breaststroke and 13th in the 200 breast. Her preliminary times in both events were her fastest times of the season, 1:04.03 and 2:20.94, respectively. Spain[apos]s top finish of the year was third in the 100 breast against Marshall, Fairmont State and again against the University of the Cumberlands. She also had a strong meet against Kentucky and Vanderbilt, placing sixth in both the 100- and 200-breast.
High School: Led Arlington High School to the state championships and earned Team MVP honors...Was also the team captain.
