2018-19 (Redshirt senior)
Named to the President's List in spring 2019... Named to All-Conference USA First Team… Became first Hilltopper to ever compete in the NCAA Championships, tying for 11th and earning recognition as a Top-15 national finalist… Outperformed 61 of 72 top-100 players in the field, including 15 in the top 25, and tied for 10th-best NCAA finish ever by a C-USA golfer… Finished season ranked as the No. 75 golfer in the country by Golfstat... Competed in 12 events for the Hilltoppers in his final season, leading the team with a stroke average of 71.5 – the best on record for the program since at least 1994… Tallied nine top-20 finishes, including four top-5s and two victories that tied him for the program record with five career wins… Notched victories at the Pinetree Intercollegiate and Vanderbilt’s prestigious Mason Rudolph Championship… Set or tied career lows for 18 holes (65), 36 holes (134) and 54 holes (201) in the Vandy tournament… Tied for fourth overall in the NCAA Athens Regional and claimed the individual berth to the NCAA Championships by sinking a 30-foot par putt on the third playoff hole… Sent the regional to a playoff by going birdie-birdie on his final two holes… Became the first Hilltopper to ever compete in multiple NCAA Regionals as an individual… Tied for 10th in C-USA Championship… Won three C-USA Golfer of the Week awards to give him six weekly honors in his career.
2017-18 (Redshirt Junior)
Appeared in all 11 events for the Hilltoppers and led the team in stroke average for the second straight year at 72.5... Selected to compete in NCAA Regional play as an individual, making him the first Hilltopper in NCAA competition since 2008... Named to the All-Conference USA Second Team as WKU's first all-conference selection since 2010... Led the team in seven events with nine top-20 performances, five top-10s, three top-fives and one victory... Finished in the top four three times in a span of four tournaments... Won the title at the Border Olympics with a 12-under 204, the best score by a Hilltopper since 2009, and won C-USA Golfer of the Week... Also shot a 10-under 206 at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate, placing third... Had stretch with six scores of 69 or lower in nine opportunities... Despite dealing with a knee injury, tied for 11th at the 2018 Conference USA Championship, the best result by a Hilltopper since 2010... His 219 conference tournament score was the best by a WKU golfer since 2014.
2016-17 (Redshirt Sophomore)
Competed in all 12 of the tournaments for WKU, appearing on the five-man card every outing… Clinched two victories, leading the field with a tie for first at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate and a solo win at the Kenny Perry Invitational… Registered first wins by a Hilltopper since the 2014-15 campaign… Named Conference USA Golfer of the Week after both victories… Won WKU’s Kenny Perry Invitational with the best 54-hole score (208) of his career… Shot his career-low round (65) – the lowest score by a Hilltopper since 2008 – and 36-hole effort (138) at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate… Finished in the top-20 on seven occasions, including the last four tournaments on the schedule, and had five top-10 performances… Led the Hilltoppers as the team’s top finisher in eight of the 12 events for the season… Ended the year leading the team with a stroke average of 72.8… Tied for 12th at the 2017 Conference USA Championships, the best individual conference finish by a Hilltopper since 2010.
2015-16 (Redshirt Freshman)
Appeared in all 11 tournaments for WKU and featured on the card in every event... Led or tied for the lead on WKU's card in two events... Finished tied for ninth, a new career-best, at both the Kenny Perry Invitational and the Bash at the Beach... Fired a career-best 69 two times in 2015-16, first in the second round at the Kenny Perry Invitational and again in the final round at the Greenbrier Collegiate Invitational... Also tallied his career-best 54-hole total at the Bash at the Beach, finishing at one-under 212... Tied for 38th at the C-USA Championships in April with a 12-over 228.
2014-15 (Freshman)
Did not compete because of an injury and received a medical hardship waiver.
Prep/HS: Billy Tom Sargent was named a two-time Mr. Kentucky Golf in 2012 and 2013 and the Region 9 Coaches Player of the Year at Scott County High School. Sargent added Kentucky 1st Team All-State honors as well in 2012 and 2013 and added Central Kentucky Bluegrass Conference Player of the Year honors in three consecutive season, from 2011 to 2013. This past season, Sargent took home tournament titles at the 15th Annual Flyer Classic and Kentucky Kia Matchplay Tournament while finishing in the top five in seven of the 11 events he played in.
