WKU is two strokes back from Green Bay who is in the lead going into the second round on Monday.
NOTABLES
- Freshman Colton Woosley fired a 67 (-5) in the first round, putting him in a tie for second place. Through the first round, he is averaging 3.63 strokes on Par 4 holes, which is tied for the best rate in the field. Woosley had five birdies and an eagle in the first round.
- Sophomore Will Easterlin carded a 69 (-3) in the first round, tying for ninth place at the end of the round. His 4.00 stroke average on Par 5s is the best in the field. He had six birdies in the first round and one eagle.
- Trevor Drew finished the day tied for 22nd place with a 71 (-1) for the first round.
- Gage Doyle posted a 73 (+1) for the round, putting him in a tie for 39th place.
- Rafe Blankenship shot a 75 (+3) for the day, tying for 59th place.
- Reed Richey is playing in an individual tournament, the Goat Hill Individual Championship. He shot a 73 (+1) for the day and is tied for eighth place.
"It was a solid day overall," said head coach Austin King. "Colton was fantastic from start to finish and Will really got rolling on the back nine and that was fun to watch. Good way to start the event and something great to build on for tomorrow. It's encouraging to see everyone be in the mix and I'm excited to see what more these guys can do!"
