WKU managed six personal records on Saturday with the list being highlighted by Sophia Roskoski's school record and first place finish in the women's pole vault. Roskoski now boasts three of the top-five marks in WKU Indoor History.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The day started off with Van Thrasher and Ricardo Smith competing in the men's 60-hurdles. Smith set a PR in the event and claimed 18th place. The 60-meter dash followed that up where Alanah Smith managed her best finish of the season with a time of 7.98. In the men's event Zachariah Taylor logged a top-25 finish, claiming 21st.
In the distance ranks, the mile events saw multiple personal records set on Saturday. In the women's event Caterina Rossomanno logged a new best of 5:03. In the men's race Trevor Hudnall logged a PR along with Bryce Revo. Hudnall took 28th with a 4:09 finish while Revo finished in 4:39.
Field events on Saturday kicked off with the shot put. Jayla Gilbert finished up in 19th in the women's event while Luke McQueen and LeAndre Bolen finished up in 19th and 22nd respectively in the men's competition.
The pole vault again highlighted action for WKU on Saturday, this time in the women's ranks. In the B Division Roskoski set a new WKU record with a vault of 4.17 meters to win the event. Carolina Bannach managed a season best mark of 3.57 in the event.
In the men's 4x400 relay, the group of Joey Raybourne, Trevor Hudnall, Ben Dunkle, and Wade Balcom managed a season best finish of 3:23.77. In the 5000 Kinley Kunkel managed a top-three finish and set a PR in the event with a time of 16:48. Kathryn Harris also finished within the top-25. In the men's event Jake Younger claimed a 22nd place finish.
NOTABLES
- In total, six Hilltoppers set a personal best on Saturday.
- Sophia Roskoski set a PR and program record in the pole vault with a mark of 4.17 (13-08.25), besting the previous record of 4.05 set in 2015 by Karleigh Parker.
- Roskoski's mark in the pole vault stands at No. 37 in NCAA DI this season and now holds three of the top-five marks in WKU Indoor History.
- Kinley Kunkel managed a PR in the 5000 meter race with a time of 16:48.54.
- Caterina Rossomanno logged a PR in the mile (5:03.20), good for a top-30 finish.
- Trevor Hudnall clocked a personal best 4:09.88 in the mile, claiming a 28th place finish in the event.
- Bryce Revo also logged a personal best in the event with a time of 4:39.65.
- Ricardo Smith charted a PR in the 60-meter hurdles (8.31).
