HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
Action Friday for the Hilltoppers got underway with Van Thrasher finishing 34th in the 60-hurdles with a mark of 8.24.
Then, in the women's 3000, Kinley Kunkel logged a new personal best mark of 9:39 which is seven seconds faster than her previous PR set at the Vanderbilt Invitational. Her mark also stands at No. 4 in WKU indoor history.
In the men's 60 meter prelims, Kameron Horton claimed a time of 7.02, good for 46th place. In the men's long jump Sterling Weldon managed a jump of 7.26 meters.
The final two events for the Hilltoppers on Friday were the women's weight throw and the men's 800. In the weight throw, Ajla Basic claimed a 17th place finish with a PR of 19.71 meters. In the men's 800 Wade Balcom finished up in 28th with a season best finish of 1:51.
NOTABLESÂ
- Kinley Kunkel logged a PR in the women's 3000 meter race on Saturday afternoon with a time of 9:39.87, finishing in 11th.
- Her time is over five seconds faster than her previous PR of 9:46 set at the Vanderbilt Invitational in January.
- Kunkel now holds the fourth best mark in WKU Indoor Track and Field history.
- Ajla Basic became the second Hilltopper to set a PR on Friday with a 19.71 meter toss in the weight throw, beating her previous record of 19.40 meters.
- Basic's time stands at No. 2 in WKU indoor history, breaking the previous record of 19.69 meters set back in 2017 by Jenessa Jackson.
