ABOUT THE TOPSÂ
- Last time out WKU competed in a two-day meet at the Crossroads of America Invitational in Indianapolis, Indiana.
- In total, the Hilltoppers managed nine personal bests over the course of the weekend.
- Sam Crenshaw again broke his own program record in the men's pole vault with a vault of 5.17 meters, marking the third time the sophomore from Bangor, Wis. has done so this season.
- Ajla Basic set a personal best in the women's weight throw invitational with a throw of 19.40 meters which stands at No. 5 in WKU Indoor Track and Field history, beating out the previous fifth best mark of 19.39 meters set by Satrina Oliveira back in 2014.
- In the 60-meter hurdles, Gianna Huerta set a new PR with a time of 9.12, good for 14th place in the event.
- In the men's 60-meter hurdles Ricardo Smith set a new best with a time of 8.44.
- The men's weight throw saw a pair of Hilltoppers set a new personal best mark. LeAndre Bolen managed a throw of 15.22 meters while Luke McQueen had a throw of 14.44 meters.
- In the men's DMR Parker Smith, Ben Dunkle, Wade Balcom, and Trevor Hudnall managed to win the event with a time of 10:07.18. That time stands as the fourth best in the history of WKU Indoor Track and Field.
- Kinley Kunkel set a new personal best in the mile with a time of 5:07, beating her previous best of 5:12.
- Gianna Huerta managed a PR in the 400 on Saturday with a time of 58.17, better than her previous PR of 58.20. Leland Taylor logged a PR in the men's 400 Saturday with a 50.20 finish. His time is over a second better than his first 400-meter dash at the Vanderbilt Invitational which was 51.40.
MEET HISTORY
- WKU's appearance in the Lenny Lyles Invitational will mark the final weekend of four straight weekends of competition for the Hilltoppers.
- Prior to the 2025 season, WKU competed in the Lenny Lyles Invitational for three consecutive seasons.
- In 2024, Emilia Lesniak headlined the meet for WKU with a personal best in the high jump (1.76 meters).Â
- The Norton Sports and Learning Center opened its doors in February of 2021. The 90,000 square foot facility is home to numerous professional, collegiate, and high school meets.
EVENT BREAKDOWN
- The meet kicks off Friday morning with the men's weight throw at 8:45 a.m. That is followed by the women's and men's long jump.
- The final field event Friday is the men's pole vault set for 1 p.m.
- On the track Friday, the DMR kicks things off at 9:20 a.m. Action Friday concludes with the men's and women's 200 at 4:05 p.m.
- Saturday, field events kick-off the day's action with the men's shot put at 8 a.m.
- Track events get underway with the 60-hurdles at 9:10 a.m.Â
- The women's pole vault will mark the final field event of the two-day meet set for 1 p.m. Saturday.Â
- On the track the women's and men's 5000 will close out the meet at 4:00 p.m. (All times listed are Central Standard. Subject to change.)
