Sam Crenshaw was one of four Hilltoppers to set a new personal best on Saturday, breaking his previous pole vault school record with a vault of 5.15 meters.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first track event for WKU, Van Thrasher finished with a sixth place mark in the 60-meter hurdles final round.
In the distance ranks, a pair of Hilltoppers set new personal bests in the mile Saturday morning. Trevor Hudnall and Parker Smith each managed a new PR in the event. Hudnall's time of 4:12 stands at No. 76 in all of NCAA DI this season.
In the women's 300, Gianna Huerta set a new personal best with a time of 41.65. Following that, in the men's 800-meter race, Wade Balcom led the way with a sixth place finish. His time of 1:54 ranks No. 29 in NCAA DI. Ben Dunkle followed behind Balcom and his time registers in the top-60 this season.
Crenshaw headlined field events for WKU on Saturday. The sophomore finished fourth in the pole vault, breaking the program record with a mark of 5.15 meters, marking the second time in as many meets. His mark stands at the 23rd best mark in NCAA DI this season.
The final event for WKU on Saturday was the men's shot put. Luke McQueen led the way in the event with a 15th place finish. In the women's event, Jayla Gilbert finished within the top-10.

- Sam Crenshaw set a new program record, breaking his previous record set at the Winter Commodore Challenge with a mark of 5.15 meters.
- The mark is also a personal best for the sophomore from Bangor, Wisconsin.
- Trevor Hudnall set a PR in the mile with a time of 4:12, good for fifth place. His mark stands at No. 76 in NCAA DI.
- Parker Smith set a new personal best in the mile Saturday with a time of 4:17, finishing up in 10th place.
- Gianna Huerta set a new personal best mark in the 300, checking in at 41.65.
QUOTABLE
On the overall performance over the weekend, head coach Lee Wood said "I thought the team competed fairly well considering it's our opener since the break."
On Crenshaw's record, Wood said "Sam had a great day and added another school record. He's been looking better and better each week and really looking forward to him continuing to perform at a high level!"
