In total, WKU saw 13 new personal bests with seven coming from the men's team. In addition to the PR's, the Hilltoppers managed to finish in the top-10 in their respective events on 10 occasions.
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
Action on the track opened up with a slew of personal bests in both the women's and the men's 800 meter races. In the women's event, Addie Frisch set a new personal best, finishing in the top-20. Tatum Maschhoff also managed a new best mark in the event.
In the men's 800, all four competitors for the Tops finished with a new personal best mark. Wade Balcom and Trevor Hudnall both finished in the top-20, finishing in 14th and 16th respectively. Hollis Johnson cracked the top-25, claiming 24th place.
In the hurdles, Gianna Huerta and Henry Fisher both set new bests in the event. Fisher claimed a 16th place finish in the men's event while Huerta took home 17th in the women's race.
In the men's 200, Zachariah Taylor led the way with a sixth place finish. Brunel Desinor and Sterling Weldon both tied for 14th. Weldon also set a PR in the event. Madison Rabe set a PR in the women's 200.
In the men's pole vault, Caleb Joyce managed a season best vault with a mark of 4.46 meters, good for second place in his pool.
In the women's 5000 meter race, Kinley Kunkel had a second place finish with a time of 17:25, marking a season best for the sophomore. In the men's 5000, Tyler Pfefferkorn set a PR with a mark of 15:47.
The final event of the night, the men's javelin throw, Devon Rogers managed a season best mark with a throw of 55.53 meters, good for third place.
NOTABLESÂ
- In total, the Hilltoppers managed to set 13 new personal bests when action had wrapped up Friday evening. The men's team charted seven while the women managed six.
- In the men's 800 all four Hilltoppers set a new personal best with Wade Balcom leading the way with a 1:52 mark, claiming 14th place.
- Trevor Hudnall followed suit in the event with a 16th place finish and a mark of 1:52. Hollis Johnson and Rowen Wilkinson finished with PR's as well.
- The women's 800 saw Addie Frisch set a personal best mark of 2:16, taking 16th place. Tatum Maschhoff also finished with a PR of 2:23.
- Madison Rabe set a new personal best time in the women's 200 with a mark of 26.59.
- In the men's 200, Sterling Weldon set a PR of 21.39, good for 14th place. Zachariah Taylor led the way for WKU in the event with a sixth place finish.
- In the men's 400 hurdles, Henry Fisher set a personal best with a time of 54.91 which was good enough for 16th place.
- Gianna Huerta's mark of 1:03 in the women's event was good enough for 17th place and a PR mark.
- Rachel Payne became the first thrower to notch a PR for WKU as her 27.01 meter throw in the javelin was good enough for a new best in the event.
- Jayla Gilbert took the victory in the women's shot put with a personal best throw of 14.41 meters.
