There were a total of nine new personal records in track events for WKU and five in field events. Two Hilltoppers in Kameron Horton in the 60-meter dash and Sophia Roskoski in the pole vault set a mark that is in the top-100 in their respective event.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the shorter races, Hilltoppers dominated, led by Horton in the 60-meter dash. Horton set a PR, winning the race but he wasn't the only Hilltopper to have a banner day in the race as Sterling Weldon and Zachariah Taylor followed behind in third place and fifth place with each setting a PR.
In distance ranks, the women's mile saw a pair of Hilltopper newcomers in Kalina Urbaniak and Nayla Martin lead the way, taking first and second place respectively. Tatum Maschhoff and Rachel Payne both set personal bests in the women's 800-meter run.
In field events Roskoski set a PR in the women's pole vault taking the victory with a clearance of 3.97 meters which is top-80 in the nation. In the men's event Sam Crenshaw won for the second straight meet. Caleb Joyce followed behind setting a personal best. Jeffery Cruickshank set a personal best in the men's high jump, good for second place.
Multiple other Hilltoppers managed a new season best on both the track and in field events. Wade Balcom finished the 800 in 1:54 which is a new season best with a second place finish. Kaison Barton took the victory in the men's weight throw with a season best throw. In the women's weight throw USC-Upstate transfer Jayla Gilbert took the victory for WKU. She was one of six Hilltoppers to claim a first place finish on the day.
To round out the day, the Tops added two more personal bests in the women's long jump with Rachel Payne and Jas Hampton. In the men's shot put Barton claimed second while Gilbert took third in the women's event.
In the 4x400 relay races both the men's and women's teams earned second place finishes with each team setting a new season best.
