ABOUT THE TOPSÂ
- WKU is coming off their first single day meet of the season at the Bellarmine Open in Louisville, Ky.
- At the meet, the Hilltoppers managed eight first place finishers and multiple top-10 performances.
- A pair of freshmen headlined the day's field events in Sterling Weldon and Sam Crenshaw. Weldon took second in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.34 meters which is ranked 31 in all of NCAA DI. Crenshaw took first in the men's pole vault. His clearance of 5.10 meters checks in at No. 60 in the country.
- Crenshaw's performance earned him CUSA Male Field Athlete and Male Freshman of the Week honors. His 5.10 meter vault crushes the previous school record set back in 2009.
- Crenshaw is the first Hilltopper to earn the honor of Freshman of the Week since Kameron Horton last April. As for Male Field Athlete of the Week, he is the first since Kaison Barton in 2021.
- Newcomer Nayla Martin took the victory in the 3000-meter race. She was followed by Kalina Urbaniak and Kinley Kunkel.
- Kameron Horton took the victory in the 60-meter hurdles winning both the preliminary round and the final.
MEET HISTORY
- This season's meet will mark the fourth consecutive year that WKU has competed in the meet hosted by the Knights dating back to 2022. The state of the art facility opened back in 2021.
- Last season the Hilltoppers were led by Nick Fornoff who managed a fifth place finish in the high jump.
- Luke Stegman claimed ninth in the shot put and 19th in the weight throw highlighting a smaller group that competed for WKU.
EVENT BREAKDOWN
- Action Friday will get underway at 9 a.m. with the men's and women's 3000-meter races. (All times CST)
- For field events, action will get underway at 8:45 a.m. with the women's weight throw followed by the women's long jump.
- The men's shot put will round out the field events slated to get underway at 3:30 p.m.
- The final event of the single day meet, the 4x400 relays, will commence at 4 p.m. with the men's relay followed by the women's relay slated for 4:10 p.m.

SCOUTING THE FIELD
- The meet will feature several teams from the commonwealth including multiple other DI programs.
- Host Bellarmine and the Hilltoppers will be joined by EKU, Morehead State, and Northern Kentucky.
- Outside of the Bluegrass State Ball State, Evansville, Southern Indiana, and Wright State will line up against WKU on Friday.
