Kameron Horton, Jayden Freeman, Brunel Desinor, Sam Crenshaw, Sterling Weldon, Nayla Martin, and Sanaa Washington all claimed first place in their respective races. Horton managed first in both the 60-meter hurdle preliminary and final rounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hilltoppers started the meet off strong with a pair of qualifiers in the men's 60-meter hurdles. Kameron Horton followed by Van Thrasher led to the pair qualifying for the final race. In the race, Horton again took first finishing in 8.01 with Thrasher claiming third.
In the 60-meter dash, Zachariah Taylor and Jayden Freeman qualified for the finals. In the finals, Freeman took first finishing in 6.85. In the women's event Sanaa Washington earned her spot in the finals where she improved her prelim time by 0.13 becoming the third Hilltopper to take first in a race.
Brunel Desinor, competing in his first meet of the season, took home first place in the men's 400-meter dash, finishing in 48.61. In the women's 200, Sanaa Washington took her second top-three finish of the meet taking third.
In the longer races, Wade Balcom, Addie Frisch, and Tatum Maschhoff all finished in the top-five in their respective 800-meter runs. In the men's mile Trevor Hudnall managed third place. In the women's race Kalina Urbaniak and Nayla Martin finished second and third respectively.
In field events, WKU managed multiple top-five finishers and a winner. In the men's pole vault Sam Crenshaw took first as he cleared 5.10 meters. In the women's event Sophia Roskoski took third place marking 3.91 meters.
NOTABLES
- Kameron Horton became the first Hilltopper to win their respective race, taking the victory in the men's 60 meter hurdles, checking in at 8.01.
- Brunel Desinor took the win in the men's 400-meter dash where he finished in 48.61 which is the 63rd best mark in NCAA DI.
- Wade Balcom took second in the men's 800-meter run. He finished in 1:54 which marks the 57th best mark in the nation.
- A pair of freshmen headlined the day's field events in Sterling Weldon and Sam Crenshaw. Weldon took second in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.34 meters which is ranked 31 in all of NCAA DI. Crenshaw took first in the men's pole vault. His clearance of 5.10 meters checks in at No. 37 in the country.
- In the triple jump, Weldon became the seventh Hilltopper to take first in the meet winning the event with a mark of 17.76 meters which is No. 54 in NCAA DI.
- Sophia Roskoski took third in the women's pole vault where she cleared 3.91 meters which is the 64th best in the nation.

WKU will compete in their third consecutive meet at the Norton Sports and Learning Center with the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic slated to run on Friday, Jan. 24.
