BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Women's Tennis will close the regular season on Monday with a match against No. 63 Florida Atlantic at the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center in Boca Raton, Florida. The match is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. CT.
The Lady Toppers (14-9) are coming off a 4-1 win over Middle Tennessee last Wednesday in the home finale in Bowling Green. The 14 wins are tied for the fourth-most in a single season in program history, while the 11 home wins WKU finished with are the second-most in a single season in program history.
Sofia Blanco has a team-best 17-2 record in singles play this spring, along with eight doubles wins. The 17 singles wins are tied for third-most in a single season in program history, and her 39 career singles wins are third-most in program history. Rachel Hermanova, the program's career singles wins leader, has come on strong late in the season with wins in eight of her last nine decisions. Hermanova is 12-8 this season in singles.
Samantha Martinez, the program's career doubles wins leader, has posted a 15-4 record in doubles play this season, while Mariana Zegada and Paola Cortez have also posted double-digit wins in doubles.
The Lady Toppers are 2-3 all-time against FAU, but have wins in two of the last three meetings. The Owls claimed a victory in the last match the two programs played in 2019. FAU is 11-8 this season against tough competition, and the Owls are the No. 63 team in the ITA rankings.
WKU will remain in Florida following Monday's match for the Conference USA Championship, which is scheduled to be played April 18-21 in Miami.
