WKU is looking to regain some momentum during this spring season following their 16th place finish in the Peoples Championship in North Carolina. The Tops will be competing on the RTJ Magnolia Grove Golf Course.
Riley Grindstaff is at the top of the card for the red and white. The WKU junior has cemented himself as a key part of the rotation for WKU after a 57th place finish in the Peoples Championship. Grindstaff also tied for 27th back in the fall during the Streamsong Invitational and is looking to be a consistent contributor for this tourney.
On deck next for the Hilltoppers is Nic Hofman. Hofman led the Tops in their previous tournament, tying for 34th after shooting a 71 and 73 in the two rounds of play. Hofman currently holds a 72.7 stroke average on the season. iu
Luke Fuller and Connery Meyer are next in the lineup for the Tops. Fuller is coming off of a tournament where he tied for 75th overall. Fuller shot an 8-over 150 total during the Peoples Championship. Meyer, who finished tied for 79th in the Tops last outing, is having a career year for the red and white. Meyer has posted career-bests all season ranging from his best overall finish, to lowest round, to lowest 54-hole score. The senior is looking to be a big contributor for the Tops during this tournament as they are looking for their first victory of the spring season.
Gage Doyle has proven to be a solid contributor for the Tops during the spring season as he is back in the lineup for WKU. In his last outing, Doyle tied for 41st, which is a career best to this point and proved to be vital in the Tops runner-up finish at the Bentwater Intercollegiate. The Texas native is looking to continue to carve out a role for the Tops during this spring stretch.
Competing as an individual is junior Stephen Warren. Warren tied for 121st in the Peoples Championship for the Tops and currently holds a 74.0 stroke average going into this tourney. The WKU junior has two top-20 finishes this season and is looking to continue to build on that going into this tournament.
Round one for the Tops is slated for a 7:30 A.M. tee time on Sunday, March 24.
