LOUISVILLE, Ky. – WKU Track & Field concluded action at the Lenny Lyles Invitational Saturday at the Norton Sports & Learning Center. The Hilltoppers competed against the likes of Ohio State, Purdue, Memphis, and host Louisville.
On the day's performance, Head Coach Brent Chumbley said "A couple of bright spots today. This is a tough time of the year for us and we need to focus and push through until we back off for a peak."
Four Hilltoppers managed top-15 finishes with multiple just outside.
On the track, Lucy Rutherford's performance in the 5000 proved to be the lone top-10 finish for the Hilltoppers. Rutherford finished in 19:34, claiming ninth place.
Wade Balcom continued the good fortunes for the Distance Tops notching a season best time in the mile, finishing in 4:23.
Nick Fornoff continued a strong indoor campaign, racking up a fifth place finish in the high jump, jumping 1.90 meters.
Devon Montgomery managed a top-15 finish in the pole vault in his first appearance of the season, clearing 4.42 meters.
The Hilltoppers will head back to Louisville next weekend for the Bellarmine Classic. The meet is slated to run Friday Feb. 2.
